One of the best ways to get your
site ranked highly in the search engines is to have a Link
Exchange Program. For smaller sites, this can consist of a single
page of links, in which the person you have linked to is linking
back to your site. A link to your site from another site is
considered a "vote" by the search engines. Your site seems more
important to search engines when other sites are linking to you.
This, in turn, raises your rankings in the search engines,
particularly Google. It also raises your PageRank. This is an
indication of how much link popularity your site has. Many
webmasters use your PageRank to determine whether they will
exchange links with you or advertise on your site. It's basically
a sign of your worthiness as a site, and PR of 4 or higher is
considered good.
It is not common for regular sites to have good link exchange
programs. The sites that have great link exchanges are generally
search engine optimization sites. This means that if you have a
link exchange, you will be a big step ahead of your competition in
most cases. Link exchanging is one of the main forms of search
engine optimization (SEO). SEO companies usually charge very high
prices for this service. When I got the idea to offer this
service, which I know how to do very well, I was reading another
web site. They offered to set up 25 links for you for $599.00, 50
links for $1099.00, 75 links for $1499.00, and 100 links for
$1799.00. That seems rather expensive to me, so I'm offering the same package
that they are offering, only I'm offering it for half the price of
what they are charging.
25 links - $299.50
50 links - $549.50
75 links - $749.50
100 links - $899.50
There is more to search engine
optimization than having good links pointing to your site, but
having a link exchange is imperative if you want your site to be
noticed unless you are Disney.com or IBM.com or someone very
important - in that case, people will link to your site whether
you link back or not. But the majority of you are running small
businesses just like me. You need your site to show up on the
search engines, yet you can't afford to pay an SEO $10,000 to do a
complete overhaul of your site. The solution is to set up a link
exchange.
Also, when you purchase a link
exchange package from me, I will throw in a copy of
Gorilla Web Site Marketing for FREE. Click
the link above and a new window will open to the Gorilla Web Site
Marketing page. This e-book sells for $39.99 (and that is a
discount of $10 of the author's original price.) It has great
information on how to optimize your site for the search engines.
Of course, the first thing that the author covers is link
exchanging. But there is more valuable information that will help
your site become successful. Web site optimization is crucial to
the success of your web site. You can't just throw a web site up
online and expect people to start coming to it. It just doesn't
work that way. So, you ask, how does a link exchange program work?
I find quality web sites that
have content that is relevant to your site. If you have a rare
type of site and there aren't many sites like your own, then I go
for the next best thing - high ranking sites with directory-type
link exchanges - both are good. I don't exchange with link farms
or free-for-all (FFA) links pages. I then write their
web master an email asking if they would like to exchange links
with your web site. If they agree to that, then he and I write
back and forth a few times getting the details worked out. He then
will add your link and description to his links page and I add his
link and description to your links page. Then I do the same thing
30 or more times with different web sites until you have a
sufficient amount of links pointing towards your site (or as many
as you've paid for.) Link exchanging is the reason that my site,
Heather's Web Design, has a Google PR of 6. That's a high number
for a small site like mine. Most sites would love to have a 6. You
won't get a 6 with just 30 links though. I have over 1200 links to
my site and I've been working on it for years. Now I don't have to
approach anyone for a link exchange. When you rank that highly,
people will write you every day asking for link exchanges with
your site.

To find out your Google PageRank, you must download the Google
Toolbar. You can get that here:

Be sure to enable the Advanced Features when asked, and go through
the options after you've installed it to see which ones you would
like. Email me if you need help understanding it. You can vote for
your own site using this toolbar. :)
